Editorial and Rights Policy

Web Harmonium is an independent music-learning project built and maintained by one person. This page explains how the site's guides and Sargam pages are prepared, how corrections are handled, and which pages are eligible for advertising.

What we publish

The site publishes an original browser instrument, practice tools, explanatory guides, and simplified Sargam transcriptions. Song-note pages are learning arrangements, not official scores or complete performance transcriptions.

How notation is prepared

Before a song is added, its melody and scale are checked by ear and compared with more than one reputable reference where available. The raga or scale is used to resolve disagreements about komal, shuddh, and tivra notes.

Every indexed song has a manual editorial entry for its specific learning goal, notation explanation, and practice method. The shared generator formats the page and note lines, but it does not calculate teaching claims, note-range summaries, generic questions, or practice advice. Web Harmonium Editorial checks the generated page against the playable keyboard before publication.

Music varies between singers, recordings, and traditions. The notation therefore describes one practical beginner arrangement and may not match every performance.

Original material and outside content

Web Harmonium does not republish song lyrics, commercial recordings, official sheet music, or embedded third-party tutorial videos. Explanations and practice guidance are written for this site. Song titles and underlying melodies remain the property of their respective rights holders.

Rights-sensitive songs and advertising

Pages for recent film songs or other melodies whose rights status has not been documented are excluded from advertising. During the current AdSense remediation and review period, the advertising loader is disabled across the entire site; only the ownership marker and root ads.txt record remain.

Advertising eligibility does not make a claim of ownership over a title or melody. It is a separate site-safety decision designed to keep uncertain material outside ad-serving inventory.

Corrections and removal requests

If a note, scale, attribution, or explanation is wrong, email hello@harmoniumweb.org with the page address and the correction. Reports are reviewed against the notation and supporting references before the page is updated.

Rights holders or their authorised representatives may use the same address to request clarification, attribution, restriction, or removal. Valid requests are reviewed promptly, and affected content can be removed while a claim is assessed.

Independence and contact

The site is not affiliated with Google, film studios, music labels, composers, or performers unless a page explicitly says otherwise. Editorial questions, corrections, accessibility reports, and rights requests can be sent to hello@harmoniumweb.org.
