Anything you capture with the record button on the web harmonium play page is saved here in your browser. Record your harmonium practice, song tutorials, or raga explorations — nothing is uploaded, everything stays on your device.

How local recording works

When you press Record on the play page, the web harmonium captures the audio it produces using your browser's MediaRecorder. Each take is saved straight into your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) on this device. Because the recording happens entirely in the browser, nothing is sent to a server, there is no upload step, and no account is required. The trade-off is that recordings live on the device and browser you made them in — clearing your browser data or switching devices removes them, so download anything you want to keep.

Ways to use your recordings

• Review your intonation. Play a phrase, then listen back against the shruti box drone to hear whether each Sargam note settled in tune.
• Track your progress. Record the same bhajan or song once a week and compare takes to hear how your timing and touch improve.
• Practise a tutorial. Capture a slow run-through of a raga phrase so you can rehearse away from the keyboard.
• Share a take. Download a recording to send to a teacher or fellow learner for feedback.

Browser support and privacy

Local recording works in recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari. Some older or privacy-restricted browsers block local storage, in which case the page will tell you recording is unavailable. Either way, your audio stays on your device — see the Privacy Policy for the full detail on what is and is not stored.
